My last post featured the Swirly Bird stamp set to create a card for boys. I had so much fun using the stamp set, I decided to continue the theme for this post making two cards for the girls using the co-ordinating Swirly Scribbles Thinlits as well. I wanted to keep it simple to showcase how easy it is to create beautiful cards on a budget and only use three ink colours on Very Vanilla cardstock to create two different birthday cards, and of course, paired them up with the Stylized Birthday stamp.
Ink colours used were Sahara Sand, Lemon Lime Twist and Powder Pink. Lemon Lime Twist and Powder Pink are part of the 2017-2019 In Colours.
On this card I stamped the flowers in Powder Pink ink and the leaves in Lemon Lime Twist ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. Cut them out using the co-ordinating thinlits with my Big Shot. I also used the large wavy thinlit in the set and cut that out in Sahara Sand cardstock.
I played around with the wavy piece, flowers and leaves until I was happy with the arrangement and glued everything down, added the birthday sentiment stamped in Sahara Sand ink, added a little shimmer with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and some pearls.
To tie it all together, I added a strip of Sahara Sand cardstock to the background. Stamped flowers inside the card and onto envelope to tie the theme together. Now the card and envelope are complete.
On the second card I used the smaller swirl stamps to create the ‘flowers’. As above, stamped them in Powder Pink ink, the leaves in Lemon Lime Twist ink and cut them out using the co-ordinating thinlits.
I also cut out the three large swirls from the thinlits set in Sahara Sand cardstock.
Once again, played around with all the pieces until I was happy with the arrangement and glued them down. Stamped the birthday sentiment in Sahara Sand ink on a separate piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and attached to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals to add a little dimension. At this point, I thought the card front was looking a little bare in some places, so used the ‘splotches’ (love the terminology!) stamp to fill in the gaps and used Sahara Sand cardstock to matt the card front.
Stamped the envelope and inside the card with the smaller swirl and splotches stamps to continue the theme once again.
